'For an Evening'

France : one of the top player of the dating app market
France: the country where hearts meet online, making it one of the biggest markets for dating sites! But as in any couple, routine is frightening, and the spark dies slowly: it's time to innovate. Match.com is no longer the Bachelor of dating apps. It has to compete with a host of competitors on the market, ready with every possible feature to seduce the next user. Indeed, Tinder, Badoo, Meetic, Happn and many others will be worth 172 million dollars by 2020. This figure is set to exceed $203 million by 2025, partly explained by the change in habits following the pandemic. We can be proud of our beautiful France, which ranks 3rd in Europe's largest market for dating websites.

Young people are the most active in this market, with 27% of users aged between 25 and 34. They are closely followed by 35–44-year-olds (25%) and 55–64-year-olds, who represent a significant target (11%).

Hinge.com
The beginnings of dating apps
By all accounts, dating sites have won over many French people. But how can we explain this success in a world where dating is so simple?
Looking for true love? Need to get away for an evening? Want to establish new friendships? Or simply need something else? The reasons are many, but they all revolve around one word: MEETING. And let's face it, in a world where solitude is a thing of the past, and where looking for your other half to finally make you feel whole, this invention was genius, and not just yesterday! The first real dating application saw the day in 1995 under the gentle name of "Match.com". It enabled users to create a profile and search for people with similar hobbies, passions and, above all, the same dating interests.

Today's market
Today's dating apps are a long way from Match.com, and a host of new features are now available to offer tailor-made encounters and maximize the chances that a one-night stand will turn into a fairytale!
The ability to include a voice message on your profile, make video calls, refine your search to people close to you or guarantee your safety by sharing your location with your friends are all features that significantly enhance the customer experience.

Today's modern dating app is a far from the taboos of the past.
"I hooked up with a cute new guy", "can you lend me your phone so I can swipe?" or "tell me about your last date" are conversations that can often be overheard at the bar.

However, there are so many offers and so many concepts, so how do you choose and find what you're looking for? Granted, all these choices can be a little frightening. We're all familiar with the colossus Tinder, but other applications offer a different concept of dating app. This is particularly true for Hinge, "the app designed to be deleted". Not interested in one-night stands. Are you looking for true love? Does the other person's astrological sign play a decisive role in the outcome of the relationship? Then you have come to the right place !
HINGE : the new player
Hinge is the app that loudly proclaims to be the opposite of Tinder in terms of offering. Offering the chance to meet your soulmate and end your days together is at the heart of the Hinge concept. It positions itself as emphasizing quality over quantity. And this is made possible by an algorithm that determines the compatibility of partners - inspired by the Gale-Shapley theorem (the same one used in Married at First Sight!). To register, you need to be patient and answer several questions, such as: "What is my greatest fear? My astrological sign? My favorite Sunday morning? This is the way to find THE person who will recognize themselves in you.

The app promotes values of transparency, commitment, authenticity, and trust. Hinge was founded in 2012 by Justin McLeod. Initially, it was a location-based dating app, very similar to what Tinder already offered. However, in 2016, Hinge rebranded and moved towards promoting more meaningful connections. The number of interactions is limited to 8, so you can think twice before acting. The app also offers the option of bouncing off the answer to questions, which makes it easier to start a conversation (this will spare you the banal and awkward hookups).
Main features
A few Hinge features if you're not already convinced:
-
relationships no longer based solely on photos (often far from reality) but on real-life issues that will have an impact on your daily life together;
-
a high-performance algorithm to offer you the best matches;
-
security measures, with feedback requested from every user;
-
a free version with limited functionality, but also a paid version for those who want to make the most of their chances!
Forget the impulsive swipe, at Hinge we prefer the thoughtful match.
Because love is serious business, isn't it?
